What is a Smart Sale?
Smart Sale is a feature that manages how and when your excess solar energy is exported to the grid. Its purpose is to maximize the value of your solar production by automatically identifying and using the most favorable export hours based on current electricity market prices.

How Does Smart Sale Work?
Export Priority is the core setting that enables Smart Sale to operate automatically. It works as follows:
1. Home Consumption Comes First
- When your solar panels generate energy, your household consumption is covered first.
- For example, if your solar system produces 3 kW in an hour and your home consumes 1 kW, the remaining 2 kW is considered excess energy.
2. Selling Excess Energy During High-Price Hours
- Under normal conditions, excess solar energy can either be stored in a battery or exported to the grid.
- When Export Priority is enabled, excess energy is automatically exported to the grid during high-price hours instead of being used to charge the battery.
3. Selecting the Best Export Hours
- Each day, the system analyzes electricity market prices and selects the highest-priced hours for Smart Sale.
- During these hours, any available excess energy is exported to the grid, ensuring you receive the best possible value for your solar production.
4. Optimized Battery Charging
- You do not lose access to battery storage. The battery continues to charge automatically, but charging is shifted to lower-priced hours.
How Value Is Created?
The value of Smart Sale comes from intelligent timing of energy export:
- Higher export value: Excess energy is sold during periods when market prices are higher.
- Automated optimization: Export hours are selected automatically based on market prices, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.
- Intelligent battery management: Battery charging is shifted to lower-cost periods to optimize overall energy savings.
- Market-driven operation: Electricity prices are market-based and variable. The EMS responds to price signals but does not predict or control future market prices.
- Battery status: The battery continues to charge to its full capacity. Charging is simply scheduled for later, lower-priced hours to preserve stored energy while maximizing the value of immediate export. The system shifts charging timing; it does not reduce battery capacity.
