What is Pool Readiness?

Pool Readiness is a service that enables you to earn a passive fee by sharing in the revenue generated from your battery's availability in the energy capacity market.

To maintain grid stability, energy production must always be balanced with consumption. With the increase in renewable energy sources, additional balancing capacity is needed.

Pool Readiness aggregates your site into a virtual power plant, or a pool, together with other sites, making its capacity available to the energy market when required. You are paid for this availability to support the grid, independent of whether an active grid balancing event occurs.

Unlike the flexibility service, which pays for specific market reactions, like supplying or consuming energy for grid balancing, Pool Readiness provides a fee for maintaining readiness for those market reactions.

Pool Readiness generates revenue by participating in the capacity market and providing availability guarantees. MarkeDroid strategically manages this process, determining the specific timing and volume of the availability offers submitted to the market. The resulting revenue is shared among all customers enrolled in the Pool Readiness service.

This service requires an active flexibility service membership with KratTrade.

How Pool Readiness Works?

To ensure your site qualifies for the Pool Readiness fee, MarkeDroid manages a “Readiness Guarantee.” We automatically issue commands to charge or discharge your battery to maintain the required State of Charge (SoC) level for the market.

• Your battery operates without interference most of the time, and administrative commands are issued solely to maintain your eligibility for the Pool Readiness fee.
• To protect your earnings and ensure readiness conditions are met, we may occasionally issue commands to charge or discharge your battery.
• Your Pool Readiness revenue is added to your Flex balance once data is verified with our partners. Funds are held in your account and can be withdrawn upon your request. See the Flex Payout guide to request a payout.

How Much Can You Earn With Pool Readiness?

Typically, Pool Readiness income amounts to 10–50% of your Flex-service earnings. Similar to the Flex-service, a service fee is deducted from the total, and VAT applies to private customers.

Pricing Example: If your site earns €200 in Flex-service fees in a month, your Pool Readiness income for that same period would likely be between €20 and €100.

Please note that Pool Readiness income is not fixed; earnings are variable and can fluctuate considerably over time.

Operational Requirements

To qualify for the Pool Readiness fee for a given day, your site must remain fully operational and maintain Pool Readiness for a full calendar day.

• The service must remain active for a full calendar day (00:00 - 23:59). Partial days are not eligible for compensation. If the service is deactivated or eligibility is voided for any portion of a day, no fee is earned for that day.
• Your site must be fully capable of responding to market commands. Ineligibility occurs if:
• Your system is offline or communication is lost during any point of the day (e.g., due to loss of internet connection).
• The site is under "Full Stop" or "Stop Management" commands.
• Other technical or environmental factors, such as hardware malfunctions or extreme battery temperatures, prevent the battery from maintaining readiness.
• You are solely responsible for all electricity costs resulting from the automated charging cycles used to maintain your battery’s required State of Charge.
• During these automated charging cycles, MarkeDroid's does not optimise for your electricity costs. The action is purely to maintain your eligibility for the Pool Readiness fee.

How to Join Pool Readiness

1. Log in to the MarkeDroid app.
2. Navigate to [Your Site] > Services.
3. Select KrattTrade under Partner Services, click on View details, and toggle on Pool Readiness.
